5k

The Saturday before Mother's Day I ran my first 5k. It was more of a fun run and not timed. It was also at night. I ran and walked. I finished in 40 minutes. To train for this I spent 3 months interval running until i finally could run for 30 minutes straight. I was really proud of myself.

Almost 50

No, not my age.  Down 46 pounds as of today!  The weight loss is slowing down, but I just have to remember that I am not going to keep drastically losing weight like I was. I keep making healthy food choices and excersing 5-6 days a week. I started to add jogging to my speed walks and Jillian Michaels is still kicking my butt but I'm kicking right back!  I am getting stronger and losing inches in addition to pounds.

I am still feeling hungry and I am thinking that I need another fill before I go back to my doctor's appointment at the end of the month.

Roller Skating Fun

Back in January, my 10 year old son wanted to have his birthday party at the roller rink.  I was very eager to get some skates on and join the fun. This wouldn't have been the case before my surgery. In fact, my 6 year old daughter had been to 2 parties right before my surgery and I felt like a really bad mom that I left my daughter to learn to skate on her own. Of course she was petrified and wanted nothing to do with it.

I put those skates on and it was like riding a bike!  I had a blast and my husband didn't realize that I could skate. He was really impressed. This surgery really is life changing!

Just a Pinch

I had my first fill today. I was in and out in 10 minutes. I don't know what I was so worried about. I initially had 2 cc's in the band. He took that out and then put 1 more cc in. So right now I have a total of 3 cc's in the band. The needle pinched just a bit going into the port. It was over in about a minute or less.  The goal is to keep losing weight and not to feel hungry between meals. If I am still really hungry and not losing weight he wants me to come back and see him. I go back in 6 weeks but if I feel I need the band tightened I need to go back in sooner.

I lost another 10 pounds since my last appointment 6 weeks ago. I got on the scale this morning and I am down a total 42.6 pounds since I started my weight loss journey, October 25, 2013.

I am pleased with how everything is going so far. I am motivated to keep going. I haven't set a weight goal. I am ok with that for now.

So this is me....

40 lbs down!  Got my hair done and went back to blonde. I also splurged and went to Old Navy and bought a few new tops. I actually think I bought a few things too big!  Imagine that?  It's amazing what I bought and how little I spent compared to what I would have spent at Lane Bryant.  It feels so great walking onto a "regular" clothing store and being able to fit in cute, stylish clothes again.  I have bagged up most of what I own. 2 large garbage bags so far. So I really needed new clothes.

I see my doctor on Wednesday and get my first fill. I am a little anxious just because I don't know what to expect.   I'll blog about it after I get it done.

Surviving the Holidays

I am surviving the holidays. I made sweet treats for friends and family and have been very good about partaking. I haven't been perfect and I admit I have snuck a bite here and there but I have had self control. I am exercising and loving it. I am even starting to jog during my walks. For Christmas I asked for nothing but workout/exercise things. My sweet hubby gave me an Ironman watch, hand weights (for my Jillian Michaels 30 day shred), and a yoga mat. After Christmas I hit the clearance rack at Target and found some really great deals on workout shirts and even a jacket. I am happy to report that I don't have to shop in the plus size section anymore and I fit in an XL quite well.  This makes me very happy.  My clothes are hanging off of me and thankfully I saved a few pair of jeans from my "skinny" days. It's been fun digging out my old clothes and slipping them on and having them fit!

Found a killer sweet tooth remedy. Blend 4 very ripe bananas and about 2 Tablespoons peanut butter together and freeze. Who needs ice cream?  Not this girl.

My only regret about having Lap Band:  not doing it years ago.
